When it comes to unique and picturesque wedding venues in Norfolk, The Boathouse in Ormesby really is something special. Tucked away in the Norfolk Broads, surrounded by tranquil waters and lush greenery, it's the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem – and it’s a dream to film at. I recently had the pleasure of capturing Georgia & Ray’s wedding at The Boathouse, and it was the perfect blend of elegance, emotion and celebration.
As a wedding videographer in Norfolk, I’m lucky to see a wide range of venues and celebrations, but The Boathouse has a relaxed charm and natural beauty that makes every moment feel cinematic. If you’re planning your wedding at The Boathouse in Ormesby and are looking for a wedding videographer who knows the venue and how to bring your day to life on film, I’d love to hear from you.
Let me walk you through Georgia & Ray’s day, and what makes The Boathouse such an incredible place to get married.
The Setting: Waterside Wedding Perfection in Norfolk
The Boathouse is nestled on the edge of Ormesby Broad, and the first thing you notice when you arrive is the peaceful atmosphere. The venue makes the most of its lakeside setting, with large windows, an outdoor deck that floats above the water, and photo/video backdrops in every direction.
What I love most about filming weddings here is how the light dances across the water throughout the day. Whether it’s the soft pastels of a misty morning or the golden tones of sunset, the reflections and natural scenery create a timeless look on video.
For couples who want a Norfolk wedding venue with a view, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Georgia & Ray’s Wedding: Full of Heart and Natural Beauty
From the moment I arrived, Georgia & Ray’s day had such a calm energy. Both of them were getting ready on-site, which made it easy to capture those meaningful little moments – the excitement, the quiet nerves, the laughter between close friends and family.
The ceremony took place inside The Boathouse with views of the water as the backdrop. Light streamed through the large windows, and everything felt open, bright, and intimate. These are the moments I love capturing as a wedding videographer – real emotion, natural reactions, and the connection between people.
After the ceremony, guests spilled out onto the deck with a glass of fizz, and Georgia & Ray took a little time out for themselves with a walk by the water. We caught some of my favourite shots of the day during this time – relaxed, romantic, and completely unforced.

Why The Boathouse Is a Dream for Wedding Videography
There are a few venues in Norfolk that just lend themselves perfectly to wedding videography, and The Boathouse is one of them. Here’s why:
Natural Light: The open-plan layout and big windows mean there’s always soft, flattering light throughout the venue – ideal for capturing beautiful, natural footage.
Water Views: The Broad gives you a real sense of space and serenity. Whether it’s during your ceremony or golden hour portraits, the setting adds atmosphere without the need for extra styling.
Everything in One Place: From prep to party, The Boathouse has everything on-site. This makes it easy for me to move around without missing a moment – and it helps keep your film flowing smoothly.
A Touch of the Contemporary: While the venue is full of rustic charm, it also has a modern finish that feels fresh and elegant – perfect for couples who want that balance of relaxed and stylish.

Storytelling Through Film – My Approach
For Georgia & Ray’s wedding film, I wanted to create something that felt like a reflection of them: warm, joyful and intimate. I take a documentary-style approach to wedding videography – capturing the real moments without being intrusive. You won’t find any stiff poses or cheesy effects in my films – just honest, emotional storytelling with a stylish finish.
Sound plays a huge role too. I weave in vows, speeches and ambient sounds from the day to help tell the full story. When you watch your film back, I want you to not just see the day, but feel it all over again.
