Katie and Monty’s wedding combined timeless tradition with relaxed elegance: a beautiful church ceremony in the Norfolk countryside followed by a marquee reception in their family garden. Surrounded by loved ones, late summer sunshine, and the most personal of settings, their day was heartfelt, joyful, and filled with memorable details. As their wedding videographer, my goal was to capture the natural emotion and rhythm of the day—from vows exchanged in the church to champagne toasts under the stars. This blog explores how we brought their story to life on film, and why couples in Norfolk are increasingly choosing to combine church ceremonies with at-home garden receptions.

1. KIMBERLEY Church - A NORFOLK CHURCH Steeped in History

The ceremony took place in a charming Kimberley Church —classic stone, tall arches, and stained-glass windows casting colour across the pews. It was intimate but grand, the kind of setting that adds a sense of occasion to your vows.

As a Norfolk wedding videographer, church ceremonies come with both challenges and opportunities. I always work closely with the vicar or officiant to film respectfully and discreetly. Using multiple cameras positioned in unobtrusive locations, I captured Katie’s arrival, Monty’s reaction as she walked down the aisle, and the exchanging of vows from different perspectives—all without interrupting the sacred atmosphere.

The church bells rang as the newlyweds emerged to cheers and a flurry of confetti. This transition—from formal to festive—is one of the most joyful moments in a wedding film, and we used a slow-motion shot here for dramatic effect. Then it was time for the garden celebration to begin.

2. Garden Reception in the Norfolk Countryside

After the ceremony, guests made their way to Katie’s family home, where a marquee had been beautifully set up in the garden. With festoon lights, handmade signage, and rustic florals, the setting was relaxed, romantic, and full of personal touches.

Garden receptions offer a kind of freedom you don’t get with a traditional venue. I was able to move fluidly between moments—capturing hugs, drinks clinking, and flower girls exploring the lawn. These candid shots form the emotional heartbeat of the wedding film.

We made the most of the open countryside too, filming a short portrait session with Katie and Monty in a nearby meadow. The golden light, the quiet countryside air—it was cinematic, personal, and completely natural.

3. Drone Footage That Sets the Scene

Garden weddings in Norfolk often mean breathtaking surroundings—and drone videography is the perfect way to showcase them. For Katie and Monty, the drone captured sweeping views of the marquee setup, the lush garden, and guests mingling outside with a glass of bubbly in hand.

4. Emotional Speeches & Marquee Moments

The marquee came alive during dinner and speeches. I always mic key speakers discreetly to ensure clear audio—because it’s not just the words that matter, but the tone, the timing, and the emotion in the room.

Katie’s dad gave a heartfelt speech that had everyone in tears. The best man, naturally, had everyone in stitches. I captured reactions around the room: guests dabbing eyes, raising glasses, bursting into laughter. These cutaways are edited into the full speeches and also layered into the main wedding film to tell the story dynamically. The warm lighting inside the marquee gave the film a soft, cinematic glow. I used low-light camera techniques to capture the evening ambience just as it looked and felt on the night.

Creating the Final Wedding Film

Katie and Monty received a full wedding film package, including:

  • A 25-minute cinematic Wedding film

  • A Wedding Speeches film, which was around 30 minutes

  • A 2-minute highlights trailer

  • A 2-minute highlights trailer formatted for Instagram and TikTok with a portrait aspect perfect for mobile phones and Instagram stories!

Each piece tells its story in a different way. The highlight trailer focuses on energy and emotion—perfect for sharing with friends and family. The full film includes extended footage of the ceremony, speeches, and candid moments, making it a timeless keepsake. The social cut is tailored for easy sharing online.

All films are professionally colour graded, audio mixed, and delivered via digital download.

For music, we chose tracks that matched their personalities: warm, soulful, and celebratory. Every clip was edited to the rhythm of the day—from church bells to first dance.
